What's the Best Sleeping Position?

I get a lot of questions about sleeping positions, mattresses and pillows from my myofascial clients.

I can't tell you how many times I've heard someone say, "yea I'm not sure what happened to my neck, I think I slept wrong".

One of my best friends recently was having severe back spasms during the night and when she told her doctor about it one of the recommendations was a new mattress.  So she got a new one.  And you know what?  It helped.

We spend about a third of our lifetime in our …

The Hidden Reasons Behind Road Rage and How you can use it to your advantage

Road Rage.

I assume we are all familiar with the term. . .but if not...it's that moment when something fairly mundane happens while you're trying to get somewhere driving, and you suddenly just FREAK  ......   OUT!!

(or maybe the other person does it to you...in that case, you're doin pretty good today, so KUDOS!)

5 Steps to Preventing Pain, Find the Cause

I'm sure you've wondered this yourself.  Maybe even spent many sleepless nights wondering...

It's the biggest question that I get from my clients at Skin to Soul who are coming in for myofascial sessions:

what caused my pain?

Sometimes based on the story they tell me I can point out obvious possibilities but other times I just have to flat out say:

"I don't know."

At the end of the day, YOU are the only person who can track and identify the cause of your pain.  Unless I were to follow you …

How Judgment Hurts Ourselves and Others

For a long time I was talking behind other people’s backs.  I was sharing information that was NOT mine to share.  And I was silently, judging and criticizing everyone around me.  Until I really, really badly hurt someone who I once called my best friend.

I knew it was wrong but I would continuously make self-righteous exceptions for this kind of behavior.  When we judge or gossip, or talk behind someone’s back we know it’s a bad thing.  Everyone knows it’s bad. But we think it’s only bad beca…

What "Being Present" Really Means

So recently my husband was getting super philosophical with me.  And he had this one burning question:

"Does being present really mean that you have to accept the present moment as it is?"

My answer was yes.  And he immediately made a frowny face.  But I did my best to explain why.

To be honest, when I first heard Tara Brach talking about Radical Acceptance I was at once relieved and also confused.  I felt resistance.

I asked myself this question...

"How can you accept the present moment…

Frustrated by your Pain? Try this Unique Approach...

hello friends!

Sometimes, when we are in pain for a long time, whether it is emotional or physical, we can start to feel REALLY frustrated
with ourselves. You don't even realize it's happening. You assign a timeline or a technique to the issue at hand,
and when the issue does not resolve itself in the time frame we give it, or the technique doesn't work, well
naturally, we get upset. We get annoyed. We get downright FRUSTRATION CENTRAL about it!

I know I do. And I know I'm …

How NOT to Break Your Back Shoveling Snow

Hello There Weary Snow Shoveler!

Or perhaps you live down south and spend less time shoveling snow and more time raking leaves, etc.  Either way, if you have a yard or even a sidewalk to take care of, it can affect your body in unpleasant ways.

My 5 FAVORITE Myofascial Tricks to release a Tight Desk Body (or anyone who sits or bends over all day long!)

I'll keep it short today. I just sent out a facebook live broadcast on my 5 FAVORITE  Myofascial tricks to release a tight desk body.

These are my favorite techniques, because they get results. When I've been sitting at my desk doing business stuff all day, or bending over clients working with them all day, I use these tools to help my body feel better.

I can tell when I have started skipping them, because after a few weeks of slacking off, my body lets me know...in the form of neck and bac…
